Today on the train platform another fast walker and I were headed for the same space. He pushed me, and I pushed back. He pushed harder, and I pushed back much harder. If at first I had spun, or even just waited, we both would have been much happier.

Video plug
As i sit here with my splint off, attempting to make my wrist act like a joint rather than an unbending rod of dry skin, scar and metal, please enjoy this video of me and Savvy running agility yesterday.

The front crosses were ugly and we're not yet the smooth and speedy team that we will be one day, but this run still earned a 1st place. Across the back of the ring were the weave poles, but you can barely see them because she hit them without hesitation. We do love agility oh so much!

Wanderlust
wan·der·lust (wŏn'dər-lŭst') n. A very strong or irresistible impulse to travel.
I hate standing still. Jessie hates standing still. We both lay in bed at night and say "We need to go to see..." When leaving for one vacation, we're already planning the next one. It's a bit insane (we're planning a trip in July and one in October), but as Jeremy can attest, we like to do our homework. We're racked with the intense desire to see new places, meet new people, and consume all the delicious vittles the new place has to offer.
This trip, we are taking Leslie and Steve, on Leslie's first real vacation in over 25 years, and Steve's first time on a plane in over 20, so we don't want to screw this one up.
My bags are packed. The camera and lenses are safe in the backpack. Jessie's clothes are folded and ready to be stacked. She leaves tomorrow at 4AM to drive to Boston and spend a few days with family.
Exactly 4 days from right now we'll be in some sadist's fantasy of a seat, 43C to be exact, 37,000 feet or so above Bar Harbor enroute to Milan, Italy. A quick drive to Liguria and we'll get settled in our little house in Fontona, as we prepare to explore the Cinque Terre and its environs.
We'll be back online sometime around the 8th, when we come back to the US.
Wish us luck!

A down, B to go!!!
(See previous post.)
Thru a combination of my dad bringing a note, awesome people in the crowd throwing it to Alan, and fabulous Newfie native Jody (on the left, below) sweet-talking a guard into getting him... Alan met me after the concert, signed my cast, called me "love", shook my hand 600 times, posed for a (cell phone) picture, and gave me a hug and a kiss!
I am so freakin' glad i broke my wrist! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
I couldn't read the top part even while he was writing it. I'm going to assume it says "Alan Doyle". Then he drew a picture of himself (note the smiley face with long hair), and that scribble at the bottom left says "GBS".
The concert was great, though the speakers and acoustics sucked and the opening "band" was pathetically horrible. Felise and Shawna are going to a celtic fest concert in DC tonight -- post something when Sean does "On the rocks of Marisheen" (sp) and you find yourselves, like me, just gazing at him in jaw-dropped adoration.
Best. Day. Ever!

Ari -- In Pieces
Guess what??!
I broke my wrist!!!
I'm in CT. Came up sat for an agility trial on sunday with my mom. We ran each of our dogs in the first class (out of 4 classes entered), and then i walked out to the car and slipped on the ice (it's winter up here, unlike in PA). Tried REALLY HARD to convince myself that i could just stick a bandaid on it and finish the trial, but when your wrist is in a violent S shape it's hard to convince others. Spent allll day in Hartford Hospital (where everyone is super nice and there are some cahyyyyuuuute interns), had it splinted 4 different times until the orthopedic doc was only mildly unhappy with it, and have surgery to get it fixed & plated tomorrow (weds). All the pain meds that people rave about (morphine, percocet) are NOT working on me, and new x-rays yesterday show that the mediocre bone reduction job is really slipping, so surgery can't come soon enough for me. I'm staying in CT with the 'rents for at least this week.
Luckily it's my left hand, though still annoying to type with one hand. I've never broken a bone before, and slipping on the ice is totally lame, so the official story (thanks to my brother) is, "Someone threatened my dogs."
But it turns out that Savvy got 1st place in her class that morning! :-D
